Qureshi VS Orengo: Why Kenyans should expect a Messi-Ronaldo Battle

Kenyans will finally have a chance to witness one of the biggest court battles in history when James Orengo, alias the walking constitution, takes on the highly rated Queen’s Counsel Khawar Qureshi.

This is after the High Court ruled that the two lawyers, are free to represent their different clients on Thursday. In a ruling delivered by Justice Chacha Mwita, the court ruled that they were not persuaded that the appointment of Qureshi is a surrender of the Office of the DPP.

“We are satisfied that his appointment meets the required law…With respect to all the challenges… We are constrained to find that the application is without merit….,” he said.

This means that Qureshi will continue to represent the DPP in the corruption case against DCJ Mwilu.

The 5-judge bench also ruled that Orengo and Omogeni were free to represent the embattled DCJ. Orengo and Omogeni sit in the Committee on Legal Affairs at the National Assembly.

“We’ve not seen evidence that the case was discussed in the sitting. The application has no merit,” the judges ruled.

After that small hurdle in which the defence and the prosecution tried to flex their muscles, we can’t wait to go into the real battle in court. The judges who are basically the referees in this tussle have proved that they are determined on being as fair as possible.

Assuming that the Defense is being led by James Orengo (Messi) and the prosecution is being led by Khawar Qureshi (Ronaldo) Who will win this game? Only time will tell.
