The Kenyan security forces have received plaudits from a great number of Kenyans and the leadership of the country for the swift manner with which they reacted to the Dusit D2 attack hence saving many lives in the process.

The Kenyan security forces have in the past been on the spotlight for apparent laxity when it came to handling terror attacks or serious crimes but with the Dusit attack, a great improvement was noted with how they carried out themselves.

Kenyans will even be more pleased to learn that prior intelligence helped the police combat another terror attack planned in Mombasa.

The police have said that the Dusit D2 attackers had planned a twin assault in Mombasa.

The Mombasa targets have however not been revealed.

Police foiled the attack after communication from the DusitD2 planners leaked.

The terrorists had started ferrying weapons and explosives from Malindi after sneaking in through Boni Forest.

But reports indicate they cancelled the plans after police mounted roadblocks in search of a 14-seater matatu that was to deliver the ammunition.

The details emerged yesterday after the father and widow of DusitD2 suicide bomber Mahir Khalid Riziki were set free after lengthy questioning.

The father, who is yet to be identified, and widow Suhaila Mwalim Bakari were arrested at Majengo and Bakarani areas respectively.
