Gary Neville doesn’t think Maurizio Sarri will be at Chelsea long enough to address the issue in the dressing room.

A furious Sarri tore into his players following Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal and accused them of being difficult to motivate. It is not the first time there has been dressing room unrest at Stamford Bridge and Neville admits former managers have also struggled.

The Sky Sports pundit insists the issue can’t be ignored but admits he can’t see Sarri sticking around long-term.

“Sarri knows he’s going to get sacked at some point in the next 18 months or two years, that’s inevitable at Chelsea ,” he said on the Gary Neville Podcast. “He may as well call it how he sees it in the first six months when he’s got a little bit of control.

“When managers have an aspect of control in the early parts of their jobs, they’ll have to seize it and basically will realise they are a difficult bunch at Chelsea. In the last 10-15 years, they’ve had the power to remove managers.

“It’s just a dressing room which can turn it on and off like a tap, it’s been able to do that for years.”

Chelsea’s defeat at the Emirates saw Arsenal close the gap in the race for the top four.

The Blues remain fourth but Arsenal and Manchester United are now just three points behind.
