CAF CONFEDERATIONS: 5 Kenyans to face off in a Zambian Affair

Five Kenyans will face off  away from home in the CAF Confederations Cup Group C when Zambian giants ZESCO United take on bitter rivals Nkana FC in one of the highlight of the group stages.

This is after CAF decided to put the two teams in the same group during a draw conducted in Cairo on Monday. The two copper belt teams had an impressive run in the first and second leg that saw them qualifying to the group stages at the expense of San Pedro and kaizer chiefs.

ZESCO is home to three Kenyan Internationals David ‘Calabar’ Owino, Teddy Akumu and lethal striker Jesse Jackson Were.

Were is the club’s leading top scorer with 65 goals having bagged 5 goals in CAF competitions this season. He was instrumental as he scored two goals to ensure they overcame Chief.

On the other hand, Nkana is home to former Gor Mahia defender and Harambee Stars Assistant captain Musa Mohammed and former AFC Leopards Captain Dancun Otieno. Kenyans will therefore be watching these games with a lot of interest to see how the 5 imports perform on International stage. The players also know they must fight for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Another inclusion in the group is Asante kotoko of Ghana and AL hilal of Sudan, kotoko makes a return to caf competition having eliminated Coton sport of Cameroon with a 5-3 win Aggregate scoreline.
