Why Businesses in Eastleigh were shut down

All business  operations were shut down in Eastleigh after the Business Community hold a peaceful demonstrations.

The move was in condemnation of the recent deadly terror attack at 14 Riverside Drive that left at least 21 people dead.

Business, religious and political leaders led by Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan called for Kenyans to shun divisive ideology.

“I joined the people of Eastleigh to remember the victims of the Riverside and to say a resounding no to Al-Shabaab, no to violent extremism and yes to peace and prosperity. Pamoja tutashinda,” he stated.

Tens of thousands of Eastleigh residents joined the business owners on the streets of the business hub to condemn terrorism.

Since the attack, statements of support have streamed in from factions condemning the heinous act.
