Dusit manager dies rescuing her colleagues

Bernadette Konjalo was the Revenue Director of the Dusit D2 hotel and was unfortunately killed trying to help her colleagues  escape the attack at Riverside, Westlands.

According to her workmates  after the first blast, Ms Konjalo tried to find out what the commotion was when gunshots rented the air, she immediately started directing people to exit the hotel.

After a short while, the attackers got to the entrance of the hotel where she was guiding people.

On realising the danger before her, she retreated inside but was shot before she could get to safety.

Her body had suffered gunshot wounds on her left hand and face.

While speaking to the Media Ms Konjalo’s  cousin, Camillus said, that they had waited at the scene of the crime until 2am for the director.

“We stayed there just waiting until 2am when some of her friends who had followed two ambulances to Chiromo Mortuary came back and asked us to accompany them as they had seen what looked like her body.

In addition he said, “We went to the mortuary and since some of her friends were still there, they showed us the body they thought was hers but we were in denial until we saw a birthmark.”

Ms Konjalo had worked at the establishment since 2014 when she joined as an assistant front office manager.

Before that, she had also worked at the Tribe Hotel for six years.

The Tuesday attack at Dusit saw 21 innocent people lose their lives and several others injured.

The detectives at the Director of Criminal investigation have launched operations to continue searching for more suspects who could have contributed to the terrorist attack.

According to reports so far a nine suspects have been arrested and are been investigated including the wife of mastermind terrorist Ali Salim Gichunge,  Violet Kemunto.

The Mother of Salim Salma Gichunge is said to have also been arrested and is been interrogated.
