Tottenham Consider Move For Liverpool’s Divock Origi

As per a report from the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a surprise move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi, on the back of the injury picked up by Harry Kane last weekend.

23-year-old Belgian hitman Origi has been on the books of Liverpool since 2014.

The Reds splashed out a fee of £10 million to secure his signature, but Origi’s time on Merseyside has since proven a frustrating affair.

After initially being loaned back to Lille, the youngster was afforded a total of 16 Premier League appearances during the 2015/16 campaign, 7 of which came as starts, with Origi’s return of 7 goals and 2 assists between the English top-flight and Europa League having proven encouraging for all parties.

As such, the 25-time capped Belgian international was rewarded for his solid goalscoring exploits the following season, when Jurgen Klopp afforded Origi 34 Premier League appearances (though 20 of these came as a substitute).

Nevertheless, though, despite his seemingly-growing importance to the Reds, the attacker was farmed out on-loan to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg last season.

And, with Daniel Sturridge now viewed as the automatic backup to Roberto Firmino at Anfield, Origi’s time on the pitch since his return to Liverpool this season has since fallen off a cliff.

To this point in the campaign, the Belgian has been afforded just 2 starts across all competitions.

This comes despite Origi having netted an injury-time winner in Liverpool’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton last month.
