These are the three key positions that Manchester Unite aim to strengthen in the summer

Manchester United are already pressing ahead with their summer transfer plans – despite the uncertainty surrounding their next manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as the favourite for the post after guiding United to six wins from as many matches.Mauricio Pochettino is also in the frame and while it is unclear who will be in the dugout in August, there are likely to be new faces regardless.

United have been linked with a host of players this month but they are highly unlikely to spend any money in January.But the Manchester Evening News reports United have a list in place for potential summer recruits.

It is claimed United have interest in three key positions – a central defender, a full-back and a forward.

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is believed to be their No.1 transfer target – although the Serie A side are adamant they don’t want to sell.Koulibaly is likely to set United back around £90m.

A right-back is also likely to be on the agenda with Antonio Valencia likely to leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.United have also been linked with a host of attacking players in recent times, including former Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco.

The Belgian international is looking to return to Europe after a spell in the Chinese Super League while PSV’s Steven Bergwijn is also on their radar.
