The Kenya National Examination Council has  directed  all school heads to register their students for national exams both KCSE and KCPE before February 15, 2018.

KNEC Acting Chief Executive Mercy Karogo has confirmed this in a circular released by  KNEC on January 15, 2018.

“All students, parents, head teachers, principals and sub-count directors of education are hereby advised to adhere to the deadlines as prescribed by the council,” the circular read.

It was also confirmed that the Ministry of Education would facilitate the examination fee for all students registering for the national exams in both public and private schools.

Private candidates, non-citizens, candidates repeating their exams and those in prison will, however, be required to pay for their own registrations.

Karogo also directed that registrations for all candidates be done online from the KNEC website www.knec.co.ke

For private students, she advised them to download the private candidate form from the KNEC website, fill their details and submit to their sub-county director of education for further guidance.

“Persons wishing to register as private candidates are advised to download the private candidates’ registration forms from the KNEC websites, complete it and submit to their sub-county director of education for further guidance during the registration period,” Karuga directed

She further clarified that the deadline applied even to students wishing to apply for the KCSE Qualifying Test Examinations(QT).

The QT test qualifies candidates who did not sit for KCPE  but are holders of other primary school certificates to sit for KCPE. It is done one month before the national examinations.

The national examinations registration commenced on January 2, 2018.
