Chelsea Boss Maurizio Sarri Shuts Down Willian To Barcelona Rumours

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has this afternoon spoken out over the rumours linking Willian with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

30-year-old Brazilian winger Willian has been on the books of Chelsea since 2013, when he made the move to Stamford Bridge from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

And the gifted South American has since gone on to establish himself as a key contributor for the Blues, racking up well over 200 appearances across his 5-and-a-half seasons in London.

Last season proved particularly fruitful for the former Shakhtar Donetsk man, with Willian having notched 13 goals and 12 assists in 55 outings across all competitions.

Willian struggling for form
However, despite the 64-time capped international’s near ever-present role for the capital outfit, large sections of Chelsea’s fanbase have never truly taken to Willian.

As such, the Corinthians youth product’s struggles to this point in the current campaign have seen him come in for heavy criticism.

Nevertheless, though, Willian’s dip in form has seemingly not deterred one club from continuing to express an interest in his services.

The outfit in question are Spanish champions Barcelona.

The Blaugrana were actually heavily-linked with a move for the Brazilian attacker last summer, but, in the end, Chelsea stood firm in their stance that he was not for sale.

Mounting reports last night, though, suggested that Barca had reignited their chase of the Blues’ star.
