Is Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana the new Kamba Kingpin?

Image result for Kalonzo MusyokaWiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is facing a fresh political rebellion after the three governors in Ukambani announced that they will rally the community in a different political direction.

Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has said is not out to cause a rift in Ukambani but only concerned about the welfare of Makueni people.

The Wiper chairman said he will not be forced to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the Ukambani kingpin and a 2022 presidential contender.

“I won’t be forced to support things I feel are not right. Not sharing the views of another leader doesn’t mean you are fighting them. I’m not dividing Kambas, I can’t wish for such a thing to happen,” Kibwana said.
The governor said he will only support ideologies that spur development.

Kibwana said since his youth he has been known to speak his mind, and he is not about to change that now that he has grown old and more experienced.

“Those who know me, more so during the Moi [Daniel] regime, if I felt something was not right I would say it even if it meant being killed,” he said.

“Now at 64, no one should expect me to change, when things are not right I will always say because that’s who I am.”

“Some politicians led by Kitui Senator Enoc Wambua and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi say I must support Kalonzo. That is 1980s politics. We will support what is benefiting our Kamba people and Kenya at large,” Kibwana said.
“As we near 2022 we will meet our people and ask them what they want.”
The governor added that he will not tolerate foul language from Wiper MPs

Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) on Wednesday said Kambas need fresh leadership that more focused on developing the region and negotiating strongly for national resources.

The three county chiefs, who met in Kivandini, Machakos County, at Dr Mutua’s invitation, held a closed-door meeting before addressing two public rallies in Masinga Constituency, where they accused Mr Musyoka for fomenting political wars in their counties.

“Going forward, we’ll speak with one voice to unite the community and negotiate directly with the national government on the issues affecting our region,” Dr Mutua, said.
