Why Fred is missing Manchester United’s Dubai training camp

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed why Fred is not part of the club’s training camp in Dubai.

The Brazilian’s partner is expecting a baby and the midfielder has subsequently remained at home awaiting the arrival.

Meanwhile, Marcos Rojo has returned home after failing to recover from a back injury.

Fred remains at home awaiting the arrival of his child.

Since his move to Shakhtar Donetsk, Fred has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford.

Under Mourinho, he made just 12 appearances, despite joining for around £53 million.

However, the 25-year-old will be hoping for better fortunes following the arrival of Solskjaer.

He is currently missing the Red Devils’ training camp in Dubai with his partner expecting their first child.

Solskjær said:

“Marcos [Rojo] has gone back home because his injury is taking a bit longer than we thought.

“Fred’s [partner] is expecting a baby and Paul [Pogba] has had his knock and has had a few days of treatment back home.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the first manager since Sir Matt Busby to win his first five games in charge of the club by beating Reading in the FA Cup.

Solskjaer has rejuvenated United in just five games with his side scoring 16 goals and conceding just three.
