Liverpool are now looking unlikely to complete the signing of one of their transfers targets as they face huge competition from Bayern Munich and now Borussia Dortmund have stormed into the race. The player in question is RB Leipzig forward and Germany international Timo Werner, who has been tracked by all three clubs for some time.

Munich have always been the biggest club in terms of attracting players in Germany but now Dortmund are top of the table and looking to become the dominant club in the Bundesliga. BVB have got their pockets full of cash after selling youngster Christian Pulisic to Chelsea for £58m and they are ready to spend it to secure the signature of one of the league’s hottest talents.

Only Luka Jovic and Paco Alcacer have scored more goals than Werner in the Bundesliga this season and Leipzig have already confirmed they will not let him leave on a free when his contract expires next year, making a move extremely likely.  CEO Oliver Mintzlaff told Kicker: ““Of course, a club like us cannot afford to let Timo Werner go into the final year of his contract, as we have discussed with him and his advisor, as all parties have the same understanding.”

It looks like a three-way tussle now between, Liverpool, Dortmund and Bayern although it looks like the Reds may be at the bottom of the pile for now.

According to Bild, Leipzig want Dortmund forward Maximilian Philipp and Dortmund could use the player as well as some extra cash to complete the deal for Werner.

However, the deal is far from done with the player reportedly preferring a move to Bayern Munich over any other deal elsewhere. The chase for his signature is a hotly contested one and whoever wins the race will have a top-class forward on their books.
