England youngster Ben Chilwell has been in electric form for Leicester City so far this season, keeping Austrian Christian Fuchs out of the first team picture. Championship side Aston Villa are looking to offer the defender a way out of the King Power Stadium with a loan move this January.

Neil Taylor is the only left-back available to Dean Smith at the moment, with Alan Hutton filling in for the Welshman in his absence. Now, with the transfer window open once again, Smith is keen to fill the gap.

Fuchs has played five games in all competitions so far this season, making just one Premier League appearance this campaign.

The Austrian joined Leicester City from FC Schalke after spending almost his entire career in Germany, playing for SV Mattersburg, VFL Bochum, FSV Mainz and Schalke after starting out for Austrian side Wiener Neustadt.

The 32-year-old played an influential role in Leicester’s historic Premier League title winning season in the 2015/16. The left-back played 32 games in the League, playing the entire 90 minutes in 29 of those games.

However, this season the emergence of Ben Chilwell has meant that first team opportunities have come few and far between for Fuchs, opening the door for a potential January exit.

The defender’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block, however. The Mirror state that Leicester would want Aston Villa to pay Fuchs’ entire wage packet, which is believed to be around £60,000-a-week.
