Which is which, new school curriculum or old one?

The issue of rolling out of the new school curriculum has left many people confused.  The new curriculum which was meant to be rolled out in January this year, the CS Amina Mohammed said that it will not be rolled out as planned.

But the President has again come out to state that the new curriculum will be effected this Thursday as schools open for a new academic year.

This declaration by the President in the new year message that he delivered in Mombasa has just confused many parents and even students themselves.

Who should they even trust?

This CS in stating why the new curriculum will not be rolled out he said that the stakeholders were not prepared enough to ensure that the new transition is properly effected.

The new curriculum is tuned to focus more on impacting and developing skills rather than only focusing on examination.

This was viewed as a solution to the current education crisis that is befalling the country.

As it is, it is confusing whether the Ministry of Education is reforming the education system (8-4-4) to another system (2-6-3-3-3 or 2-9-3-3), or undertaking the curriculum reform towards learner-centred CBC, or both? Have the MoE done a comprehensive external evaluation of the current 8-4-4 system and what lessons are available that could inform any review and reform or our education system and curriculum?
