Wasafi festival was planned to headline the crossing over to the new year in Kenya. Most Kenyans are big lovers of Bongo music and especially the Wasafi crew turned out in large numbers to witness what was expected to be a world class performance.
But did they stand up to their fans expectations? No that was not the case. Their performance was compared to the online shopping where the product you order comes in a completely different way than you expected.
The Wasafi crew which comprises of Mbosso, LavaLava, Harmonize, Rayvanny and Diamond Platnumz did not pull out the energy as it is always in their music.
Watch the #WasafiFestival live from Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

Their performance was full of breaks, and off key moments. The Wasafi musicians used most of their time just talking. They did not understand the difference between singing and hyping their own music.
Even the simple art of using the microphone was not applicable to the wasafi crew, they were literary shouting on the microphones. No artist from the wasafi crew including Diamond himself who even decided to sing without music playback. That was just disgusting.
But thanks to our very own artists: Naiboi, Nadia Mukami and Band Beca. If it was not for them, their could totally be no show instead Wasafi lecture.

The two Kenyan artist, Nadia and Naiboi gave Kenyans a treat of their money with lively and energetic performance.Kudos to them for lifting the Kenyan name higher.
Maybe this a real indicator that we should support our very own talents. This is not the first time such a mediocre Performance is happening in our country, remember Tekno Nigerian superstar, this was the same scenario.
It is a wake up call.

My wish for 2019 is to support more of our own, to appreciate them, we come out in large numbers and we encourage them. If we don't who will? #WasafiFestival

@diamondplatnumz @harmonize_tz @mbossoTz @Rayvanny muziki wenu safi kabisa kwenye radio na tv, lakini live performance chini sana! Too many breaks in between your sets+you were off key+shouting on the mics+using playbacks+talking too much and no actual singing #WasafiFestival
