Budalangi lawmaker Raphael Wanjala has come out to express his worries over the life of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

Wanjala claims the CS has been receiving threats for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s unity initiative from politicians opposed to the handshake.

The legislator now wants the Head of State to protect Eugene given the long standing history of political assassinations in the country.

“We are very worried about our son Eugene Wamalwa whose life is in danger because he has been threatened severally simply because he is supporting the handshake,” said Wanjala.

Wanjala said Eugene was right to support the handshake because he has been appointed by the president and has no option but to back it up.

“We have seen somebody on the television who has said he is ready to crash anybody who will stand between him and his political ambitions. We have seen political assassinations in Kenya and we will not allow it to happen to Eugene,” he added.

“Even those leaders who are going around in the Tangatanga movement must know this and come out to protects the life of Eugene Wamalwa,” he added.

The lawmakers statement comes barely a day after the CS alongside FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi held a meeting to discuss the way forward for the Luhya community.

The leaders later attended the 39th Maragoli festival where Eugene was made the chief guest unlike in 2017 where he was chased from the event for being part of the Jubilee campaign team.
