Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side will need a record points total to beat defending champions Manchester City to the Premier League title.
The Reds registered a 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night to open a four-point lead at the top of the table. The Merseysiders are considered as title contenders for this season but Klopp stresses the need for his players not to take their foot off the gas.
City won the title with a record 100 points last season and Klopp believes Liverpool need to beat it to succeed this term.
“I don’t know how much any team needs this season but everybody asks me about the situation and says that the last four times the team that was top at Christmas won the league,” said Klopp.
“Other teams such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Arsenal are all winning as well. That is the season, no-one from the top five really drops points and at the end of the season, you probably need 105 or so to be champions,” he added.
