DPP approves prosecution of senior officials of KPA Retirement Benefits Scheme

DPP Noordin Haji has today issued a statement to approve the prosecution of senior officials of KPA Retirement Benefits Scheme.

As indicated in the statement, EACC opened an inquiry into allegations against the Kenya Ports Authority Retirement Benefits Scheme (KPARBS), 2012 trustees, management and advocates for entering into fraudulent sale agreement for the purchase of 100 acres of land in Kikambala near Vipingo in Kilifi County for Kshs 700miIlion.

When EACC Initially submitted the inquiry file to this office on 1st July, 2016, a careful perusal and consideration of the evidence on record revealed that there was sufficient evidence disclosed to warrant prosecution of the suspects identified.

However, the DPP also identified the need for additional investigations in specific -areas„ in order to strengthen the Prosecution’s case and further, to enable determination as to whether additional Charges could be preferred and/or suspects be enjoined, befòre arraignment in court.

Further investigations were undertaken, and the duplicate file resubmitted on. Upon independent review of the resubmitted inquiry file, the DPP is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain the following charges and have listed the names of the persons who will face the charges underneath.

The DPP has also ordered that the listed should be arraigned in court immediately to answer the charges
