Sauti Sol is undoubtedly Kenya’s popular band as they have managed to dominate the Kenyan music industry for ten years now since the release of their Mwanzo album which featured hit songs like Lazizi and Blue Uniform. Unlike many bands who fall out after a while, the boys Bien, Chimano, Polycarp and Savara have managed to stick together and remain consistent with their music.

Earlier this year, the Kenyan boy band pledged to release at least one song every month for the rest of the year. All was going well up until August this year when they teamed up with Nyashinki to release the politically conscious song Tujiangalie.

However, as fans waited with bated breath for the September, October, November and December release, there has been pin drop silence from the boys.

The multiple award-winning group has now broken the silence on why they have not been releasing new music. Bien-Aime Baraza, the outspoken Sauti Sol member revealed that they were unable to follow through on the on-song-per-month promise to their fans due to a few hiccups along the way.

“We paused because we realized we did not have the required financial muscle to keep up with the releases. We have, however, signed deals with international record labels and from next year we will be back on track,” said Bien.

Sauti Sol made the revelation today afternoon during a press conference for the 2018 Diani Beach Festival at The Alchemist in Westlands.

The boy band is set to rock the second edition of the annual Diani Beach Festival for the second year in a row on December 29, 2018.

In as much as Kenyans love to hate, we have to admit that Sauti Sol have outdone themselves this year releasing hit after hit. Which was your favourite of all the singles they released this year?
