Adrien Rabiot has already agreed to join Barcelona next summer, according to reports in France. The midfielder informed Paris Saint-Germain this week he would not be signing a contract extension and would leave the club when his current deal expires at the end of the season. Rabiot is wanted by several Premier League sides, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal plotting transfer moves for the Frenchman.

However, Le Parisien claim Rabiot has reached an agreement with Barcelona ahead of a summer switch after informing PSG he would not sign a new deal. ‘The player informed me that he would not sign a contract and that he wanted to leave the club by being free at the end of the season, at the end of his contract,’ PSG sporting director Antero Henrique said.

‘For the player, this will have a very clear consequence – he will remain on the bench for an indefinite period. ‘It seems that the player and his representative have misled us for several months.

‘I must add that this situation is disrespectful for both the club and the fans.’ Barcelona have been courting the 23-year-old for several months, as club technical director Eric Abidal has sought to personally ensure Rabiot joins the Catalan giants.

The Spanish side is keen to add fresh blood to their midfield, with Barcelona already suffering several hiccups this season. Two defeats in La Liga coupled with four draws has not stopped Barcelona from topping La Liga, but have been enough to spark concern at the club about the current squad.
