William Ruto preaches the ‘Education’ gospel in Lamu

The Deputy President William Ruto’s latest visit has landed him in Lamu. As obvious the Lamu people are happy for his visit because the Deputy President never visits a place empty handed.

The development agenda has landed him in Lamu where he was received by the local leaders from the region. Governor Fahim Yassin Twaha led the leaders to welcome the DP.

Speaking during the opening of Pate Girls Secondary School, Lamu East, Lamu County Ruto noted that children access  to education is a priority.

“Ensuring all children have equal rights and access to education is a priority and an anchor to sustainable development, shared prosperity.

Education increases literacy; boosts earnings; enhances job prospects and creates a resilient economy.” he said

This is among the efforts the government is laying to increase the access of education to the girl child in the region which is marginalized at the moment.

In regard to general infrastructural development in the county, he specifically leaned on the electricity agenda.

“Electricity is central to the functioning of homes, factories, farming, information sharing, education and healthcare.

It is a critical infrastructure that enables households to enjoy a higher quality of life, use it for domestic and commercial needs and live in comfort.” he said
