Celebrated coast based songstress Nyota Ndogo has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government for compensating her three-bedroom house that was demolished.

Nyota Ndogo’s bungalow in Voi was among several properties demolished in 2014 to pave way for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway.

The swahili songbird took to her social media account to express her gratitude.

The government has since compensated the land owners and the singer used the money to put up another new three-bedroom house.

After her three-bedroom house in Voi town was among those marked for demolition to pave way for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway, heads Up learnt that she demolished it herself so that she could recover some of the building materials to be used in her next house.

Nyota  it was not easy to let go of her house.

“I cried like a baby when I heard that I had to vacate. This was my first house that I really struggled to build. I had just settled in,” she said, adding that she was very cautious while buying her new piece of land.
