A middle age man is reported to have committed suicide in his side chick’s house after he allegedly had misunderstanding with his wife.
The body of the 38 years old man identified as Benard Ombui, 38, was yesterday morning discovered by the girlfriend, Jackline Moraa dangling from the roof of their one room rental unit Getarein Kisii town.
Both the woman and the man are said to have been in different marriages, but were seeing each other.
On Saturday the man, a shoe shiner at Kisii town was said to have attempted to throw himself into a borehole following a disagreement with his first wife who stays in Keroka town Nyamira County.
“He was complaining of several issues including the case but I didn’t know that he could get to a point of committing suicide,” said a neighbour.
The neighbour who spoke to the Standard on condition of anonymity said the man and his lover had been on constant quarrel and could always fight at night after taking some illicit brew
.“The woman always gets to the house late. Some of the tenants have left because of their fights and noise,” said Mary Ombui.Kisii County Police Coordinator Benard Nguli told media that his officers were carrying out further investigations.
“We want to establish why the deceased to take such an action.”Muli called on locals to remain calm and not to allow depression deep into their families.
“We have had a number of suicide cases in the area and a number are related to family issues. We must all understand that there are several ways of solving conflicts but suicide will never be one of them,” he said.
