Amidst already started campaigns for the 2022 general elections, leaders like Ruto, Uhuru and Raila have come out condemning the early excitement wishing that the politicians would first focus on their current duties to Kenyans then embark on their campaigns later on when the time is right.

Eugene has also  joined in campaign warnings. He has said it is too early for the Luhya community to declare support for any presidential hopeful, adding more consultations need to be made first.

An early endorsement of Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid is dangerous for the Luhya, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati have both stated

They were speaking on Sunday in Mbakalo Ward, Tongaren constituency. Wangamati said the community first needs to unite before declaring support for any hopeful.

“If we want to be respected as the Mulembe community and make any impact in 2022, we must first come together before partnering with others, otherwise we will just end up being a laughingstock,” he said.

Wangamati said he has no problem supporting the DP but wants him to engage the community properly.

“I met the Deputy President William Ruto and told him the only way to engage Western Kenya meaningfully is through a structured way,” he said.

Wangamati also stated that Luhya is one of the largest communities in Kenya, which deserves a prominent position in the next government.

He said Wamalwa, Senator Moses Wetang’ula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi must first unite and give the community direction.

Eugene said the community should speak in one voice so that it gets its rightful space in the national arena.”Like the Governor said, winning coalitions are crafted just months to the election. Let us focus on working for our people,” he said.

On the other hand Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday promised what he said will be “massive political realignments” ahead of the 2022 presidential elections, saying that all options are “on the table.”

He, however, cautioned politicians against preoccupying themselves with 2022 debate at the expense of serving Kenyans.

In what seemed as goodwill advice to rival William Ruto, Kalonzo warned that Deputy President’s office holders are usually fought constantly since the ‘hot seat’ is a heartbeat away from the presidency.Do you agree with Kalonzo?

Kalonzo was speaking during a fundraiser for Kolait Catholic parish in Teso North on invitation by the Wiper Busia County Coordinator Fred Papa.
