A section of Rift Valley leaders have come up boldly to condemn the several arrests that have happened to the leaders from that region.
In recent times the leaders from Rift Valley have fallen on the wrong side of the law being victim of the various corruption cases happening in the country.
Outgoing Kenya Pipeline managing director, Joe Sang, is set to be charged with multiple accounts of abuse of office, that saw the parastatal lose billions of shillings in revenue. This is according to the director of public prosecution. But even as Sang and his co-accused await their date in the dock, a section of leaders from the Rift Valley now accuse the investigating agencies, of politicizing the war on corruption to target their kinsmen.
Speaking at Mosoriot during a church fundraiser, Mr Cherargei, who also doubles up as the Senate’s Justice and Legal Affairs chairperson, hinted at a plot to target people from certain communities on corruption claims. He added: “We will not accept our own people to be taken in circles. The DCI boss should know that we are keenly watching his steps. Corruption should not be used as a weapon for 2022 succession contest.”
Cherargei noted that the same people who are being targeted have been giving their best in various positions and profiling them based on communities is unlawful.
