Kenya Premier League clubs will have limited venues to host their matches, this is after Mumias Complex, Ruaraka Sports Club and Thika Sub County were banned by the Stadia Safety Committee for not meeting the required standards.
TThis means the only venues that are available to host Kenya Premier League matches before the reopening of Nyayo Stadium are Bukhungu Stadium, Afraha Stadium, Moi Kisumu, Moi Kasarani, Mbaraki Grounds, Narok Stadium, Kinoru, Green Stadium and Machakos stadium which will be used by the 18 teams in the league.
Tusker FC have been affected by the ban and will have either to shift their matches back to Kinoru or Kasarani. Vihiga United have also been affected after the ban on Mumias Complex. They will have Bukhungu Stadium as their alternative venue
The statement by KPL reads:
Following the inspection by members of the Stadia Safety and Security committee, the following grounds have been banned from hosting matches in the 2018/19 season until recommendations are made for their facelit are met to the committee’s satisfaction : 1. Ruaraka Sports Ground 2. Mumias Sports Complex 3. Thika Sub County Stadium 4. Camp Toyoyo 5. Chemelil Sports Complex which had registered these grounds as their home grounds are kindly requested to seek alternative venues.
