Raila Odinga Receives a Stern Warning Ahead of Uhuru-Kisumu Visit

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to visit Kisumu on the 13th of December. The President will be in the lakeside City to launch the piloting of Universal Healthcare Coverage, part of his Big Four Agenda.

This will be Uhuru’s first visit to the region since the now famous March 9th Handshake between him and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga.

Raila Odinga on the other hand was in Kisumu yesterday to meet with Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o after which he attended a consultative meeting with ODM Party officials on matters relating to the upcoming Universal Healthcare Coverage launch in Kisumu by President Kenyatta.

After the meetings, Raila addressed the residents of Kisumu’s Posta Grounds. The large crowd gave him a heroic welcome with many of them showing great signs of already moving on following the tense 2017 general elections.

One person that seem to not have moved on from the entire 2017 debacle is Miguna Mguna. The former advisor to Raila Odinga has constantly hit out at Raila Odinga for what he has termed as Betrayal by Mr. Odinga.

Miguna has been so much against the handshake with the barrister saying that Raila reaped big from the handshake at the expense of the millions of his supporters that did everything possible to have him ascend to the Presidency with some even loosing their lives because of him.

Ahead of Uhuru’s Visit to Kisumu, Miguna has called on Raila Odinga not to host the President. Miguna argues that Raila hosting the President will be an insult to the egregious injuries Uhuru’s government inflicted on the people of Nyanza during the heated Presidential elections of 2017.

“A PUBLIC WARNING TO : Do not add insult to egregious injuries inflicted on Nyanza people from July 2017 to March 2018 by hosting in Nyanza. Stop trading with the blood of hundreds of Nyanza people has killed, maimed and brutalized,” tweeted Miguna Miguna.

Uhuru’s Jubilee Government will spend Sh3.9 billion to pilot the Universal Healthcare Coverage programme in Kisumu, Nyeri, Isiolo and Machakos counties.

The projects will establish the capacity of NHIF and improve infrastructure before the programme is rolled out countrywide.

Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o said the county is well prepared to host the President.

Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo called on President Kenyatta to revive collapsed sugar industries, saying the livelihood of millions of Kenyans depends on the sector.

He said Uhuru should also launch the construction of Muhoroni-Mamboleo C674 road, formerly the C34, which is a key road to Kisumu, Nandi and neighbouring counties. Other leaders welcoming Uhuru include Nyando MP Jared Okello, Kisumu Central MP Fred Outa and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.

Is Miguna Miguna right in calling for Raila to Snub President Kenyatta during his Kisumu Visit?
