Nikola Kavazovic has reached an agreement to handle Free State Stars, replacing Luc Eymael, who resigned from the club three weeks ago. A source close to the coach says Kavazovic will be unveiled soon.

“Kavazovic held fruitful talks with Free State Stars and he should sign a contract soon to take charge at the club. He has been in South Africa and the club officials are impressed with his CV. It is a matter of time before the club parades him.”

Kavazovic left AFC Leopards, only three weeks after signing a two-year contract to handle the Kenyan giants. He told the club officials that he was to attend to his sick father back home but it later emerged that he was leading the race to succeed Luc Eymael at the South African club.

The source further added that Free State Stars’ officials were also in Kenya to discuss with AFC Leopards on the transfer of the coach. “I am told the officials also visited Kenya but I don’t have the details of what was discussed.”

AFC Leopards will face Kariobangi Sharks in the league opener on Sunday.

Leopards organizing secretary Timothy Lilumbi says Nikola’s assistant and long-term ally Marko Vasilijevic will hold fort against the high-flying Sharks.

Meanwhile, Football fans across the country will keep an eye on new signings at their favourite clubs as the 2018/2019 SportPesa Premier League season officially kicks off Saturday afternoon with nine matches on the cards this weekend.
