Manchester United legend reveals why Zidane is not the right option after Mourinho exit

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has warned his side about replacing current boss Jose Mourinho with Zinedine Zidane.

United has had a poor start to the current campaign and has failed to register a win in the last four outings, the most recent being the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at home.

The Red Devils are currently 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City and eight points outside top four. The results have seen many suggest that Mourinho could be replaced by former Real Madrid boss Zidane. However, Scholes questions whether the Frenchman is a good fit for his former club amid Mourinho’s struggles.

“Is Zidane the right man though? He went into Real Madrid who had a group of ready-made winners already. This is a totally different job he would have to be rebuild confidence with a squad that isn’t quite performing. He went to Real Madrid with so many great players, it was still difficult but, this would be a whole rebuilding job,” said Scholes.

Scholes is against the sacking of Mourinho something Rio Ferdinand agrees with as he questions whether the club has a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings.

“I don’t know it’s a difficult question that, is there a ready-made replacement out there that they can go and get immediately?  You can’t just make a knee-jerk decision and then decide who to get in after there needs to be that process lined up and ready.

United will be home against Fulham on Saturday 8th before facing Valencia in the Champions League next week.
