How a Kalenjin Bible Helped Propel William Ruto to Greater Heights

If there is someone that has proved to be a cheerful giver in this country, it must be the deputy President, William Ruto. From gracing various church functions and contributing handsomely to some great causes in the church, William Ruto is truly a lover of the great teachings of God.

The deputy President has been on a mission to have the word of God to reach many people including those at the grassroots. In order to achieve this, the deputy President  asked leaders and especially the members of Parliament to ensure that the people they represent get access to Bibles published in their local languages so that they can read and understand God’s word.

Ruto’s initiative alongside the Bible Society of Kenya gained some massive support yesterday at  the Nairobi Club grounds last evening where a National Bible Translation Fundraising dinner to was held to help translate the Bible into more local languages so that more Kenyans can read the word of God in their indigenous languages.

The event was presided over by Kenyan head of State, Uhuru Kenyatta.

Deputy President Ruto said he was a beneficiary of the Bible that was written in Kalenjin and called for support to help avail the word of God to Kenyans who do not have it in their local languages.

“As I stand here today I am a beneficiary of the Bible that was written in Kalenjin. It is the Bible in Kalenjin that made my father to read the word of God, to stop what he was doing, married my mother and took us to school,” the DP said

Quoting South African freedom icon and former President Nelson Mandela, DP Ruto said, “If you speak to a man in a language he understands, it goes to his head. But if you speak to a man or woman in his or her own language, it goes to his or her heart.”

“That is the moment we are in today. We want the word preached in a language that goes straight to the heart of many Kenyans who today do not have the Bible in their language,” the Deputy President added.

The DP has constantly said that nobody will stop him from spreading the gospel by helping in building the churches.

This has come amidst a backlash from various political leaders with many demanding that the DP be investigated and his sources of funds revealed.

The deputy President has however stood firm and insisted that he does not care about what people say about his generosity and that he can not stand being a hustler on earth and in heaven.

“Mimi siezi kubali kuwa hustler hapa duniani na pia nikuwe hustler kule mbinguni,” (I cannot be a hustler on earth and be a hustler in heaven)

Do you think that spreading the Gospel can help make Kenya a better place to be in?
