To be gay or not to be is one of the topics that attracts a lot of reaction when there is a trigger. Although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, with some countries which have LBGTQ laws; opinions could still land you in trouble.
The announcement by popular Kevin Hart’s to step down from hosting the Oscars 2019 has attracted alot of reactions from renown celebrities to fans who weighed in over a tweet from 9 years ago that came back to haunt the comedian.
The ‘insensitive’ tweet surfaced a day after Kevin Hart was announced by the Academy as the host of the Oscars 2019. An opportunity he says was a dream come true.
Far from the homosexuality debate, some had believed that Kevin Hart would be the best host judging from how he hosted the roast of Justin Bieber.
“I’m not the biggest Kevin Hart fan but I think he would have been really dope as the host of the Oscars based on how well he hosted the Justin Bieber roast, he really surprised me on that.” one tweep mentioned
Hosting this show was a dream come true for the comedian but he said that he stands firm to his decision to quit.
Kevin Hart also added that he is not who he was back then and the ‘insensitive’ tweet is something that he has explained over and over again.
Some complained that the tweet was so insensitive to the gay community and after the online onslaught yesterday the Academy called in to ask him to apologize or else they will replace him with another host.
Kevin Hart took to twitter send an apology but also step down from being the host saying that he did not want to be a distraction during the event.
“I’m sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy.
I hope we can meet again. I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.” he said in a series of tweets

Why is a Kevin Hart tweet from 2009 surfacing?

How was Kevin Hart supposed to know that gay people are human beings who deserve respect in the year 2010?! LGBTQ equality was a foreign concept that hadn’t even been spoken of yet! I was still sharing a jail cell with Oscar Wilde back then!

That new sport of diggin up old shit to try and ruin people’s lives is trash. I’m glad Kevin Hart not apologizing.

As a gay man, I wasn’t “looking for reasons to be negative” when Kevin Hart was announced as host of the Oscars. But when presented with blatantly homophobic undeleted tweets that use the word faggot, I was alarmed, angry. His inability to understand the backlash is abhorrent. https://t.co/MIzblYuDCw
