American Comedian Kevin Hart has announced that he is stepping down from hosting the Oscars event which is set to take place in February 24, 2019.
The popular Comedian in a video revealed that he had gotten a call from the Academy over a tweet that he had sent way back in 2009.
Although this was a dream come true for Kevin Hart he says that he is surprised that people still judge him over things that he did in the past.
The Comedian also added that he is a changed person and he wishes people could use the same energy they use for negative vibes to look at the positive side.
Kevin Hart made the announcement that he will be hosting the event earlier this week when the Academy made their choice and welcomed him to the Oscars family.
When he got a call from the Academy, the comedian was asked to send out an apology of which he clarified saying that he had been talking about the issues for years.
“Kevin apologize for your tweet or we will have to move on to another host” he recalls the phone call conversation
Kevin took to the social media platform to say that he was sorry that he hurt people but has decided to step down.
“I’m sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again. I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.” he said
He also gave thanks for the opportunity as he added that he will still stand his ground.
