First Lady opens Mother & Child Hospital in Makueni County

 

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has today unveiled a new mother and child facility located in Wote town adjacent to Makueni Level 5 Hospital in Makueni County.

The facility which has an ultramodern newborn unit and houses 120 bed was officially is the brain child of Makueni Governor, Kivutha Kibwana who has proved to be the ‘King of Development’.

 

“I am delighted to be in Wote, Makueni County, to preside over the official opening of the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital,” said the First Lady.

The First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta has been unapologetic about her cause to better the health of mothers and children in the country. The Makueni Mother Child is now an addition to the list of many hospitals that the ever noble Mrs. Kenyatta has opened.

Makueni County Governor expressed his gratitude the First Lady and welcomed her to Makueni to open the facility that will see the lives of mothers in the county transformed for good.

 

“The people of the great county of Makueni welcomes H.E Margaret Kenyatta, @FirstLadyKenya to Makueni on the occasion of commissioning the 120-bed Mother and Child Hospital at Wote,” said Governor Kibwana on Twitter.`

According to Governor Kibwana, the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital commissioned today will provide several amenities including consultation services like gynecological, obstetric, neonatal consultation services; antenatal wards for mothers who are not in active labour; an ultramodern newborn unit with neonatal intensive care unit, incubators, and phototherapy unit.

 

 

The hospital will revolutionise the health sector within the county with the intention of improving pre and post-natal care. Additionally, the mother and child facility is expected to be a regional specialist referral facility for maternal and child health services with a capacity to serve a catchment population of close to 100,000.

 

 

Kivutha has been lauded many times for his down to earth nature and dedication to bettering the lives of his constituents which is in line with President’s Uhuru’s Big 4 Agenda on universal health coverage.
