Is this the end of ODM as we know it?

Picture this, it is 2021, Raila is not vying for presidency. William Ruto has taken over the coast and is just about to occupy State House.

But where is ODM? The Party that was once the strongest in East Africa. Will it be dead? As things stand, this is a probability that might just happen.

On Tuesday, ODM’s disciplinary committee ,  controversially recommended the expulsion of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman.

The decision has elicited mixed reactions both inside and outside the party. Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has hit out at the disciplinary committee saying it ‘has outlived its usefulness.’

The lawmaker said the committee’s recommendation for expulsion of Dori and Aisha  as well as six Homa Bay MCAs is misplaced.

The committee chaired by Fred Athuok asked the party to delist the eight leaders on grounds of gross misconduct. “The committee has outlived its usefulness to the party. The situation has just moved from bad to worse,” Millie said.

Jumwa and Dori are in the party’s bad books following their dalliance with DP William Ruto. But Millie says the committee has failed to live by the rule of law which dictates that the leaders be given a fair hearing.
