‘We want him!’ Chelsea make ‘official’ bid for Pulisic

Chelsea have made an official bid for Borussia Dortmund and USA winger, Christian Pulisic. According to the Standard, sources in Germany have claimed that Chelsea made contact with the Bundesliga outfit on Friday to discuss a move for Pulisic.

Dortmund want a staggering fee of £70 million for Pulisic but Chelsea’s bid is said to have been well below that.

Pulisic has spent his entire senior career at Dortmund and is a product of their youth system.

Despite being just 20 years of age, Pulisic has already racked up 109 appearances for their senior side.

In those 111 games, Pulisic has scored 15 and assisted 24.

Dortmund do not want to sell Pulisic in January. Liverpool are also said to be interested in the Dortmund winger and as the Standard report claims, Anfield is Pulisic’s preferred destination as he wants to reunite with former boss, Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea’s bid for Pulisic came with the intent of landing the youngster in the January 2019 window.

However, that seems very unlikely given Dortmund’s stance on selling Pulisic before the end of the season.

When the rumours of Pulisic going to either Chelsea or Liverpool in January began to emerge several weeks ago, Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc had this to say:

“We’ve known these rumors for many years.

“We’re planning to continue with him at least until the end of the season. We will still need Christian significantly.”
