Watu wetu!!Arrested cops escaped after their colleagues fired to free them

Days after the government vowed to deal with corrupt officials ,Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)officers escaped death by a whiskey after rogue police officers fired gunned at them.

Drama was witnessed at Kabete police station after police officers ganged up against EACC officers who tried to arrest two of their colleagues over bribery allegations.

Several gunshots were fired as officers stationed at the Kabete Police station tried to save their colleagues who were caught engaging in corruption.

The DCI officers were initially apprehended by EACC officers after being caught in the act attempting to solicit a KSh 1 million bribe from a foreigner.

The arrest of the officers, however, did not augur well with colleagues who literally resorted to their guns in an attempt to scare EACC officers into surrendering the two rogue officers identified as Julius Oguma and Charles Macharia.

The officers eventually managed to intimidate their way out of EACC custody after warning shots were fired The EACC have since launched a manhunt for the two officers who escaped custody.

They had already received KSh 100,000 treated cash which their counterparts from EACC were to use as evidence in prosecuting the matter.

The escaped officers had been handcuffed and so far, Kabete DCI boss is aiding in tracking of his juniors.

In a statement sent by EACC on Wednesday, the commission said its detectives laid a trap for the two suspects but they escaped after their colleagues fired in the air to scare the officers from the commission.

“The two suspects were arrested and handcuffed but were rescued by their colleagues from Kabete Police Station who fired several rounds of ammunition as warning shots to facilitate the escape of their colleagues,” EACC said.

Earlier today, 15 other officers were arrested in Kwale after being found with Sh11,000 bribes solicited from motorists.

The officers reportedly collected the bribes while manning a roadblock on the Likoni – Lunga Lunga highway.
