Shame!! Kenyan delegates conclude blue economy conference with fresh demands

MPs are at it again. Just days after President Kenyatta rebuked leaders who always push for salary increases at the expense of Kenyans , the MPs have yet again attempted to demand their perks.

Fresh details have emerged on how some MPs attended the just concluded Blue economy conference with the aim of receiving allowances and eating at the best places and the best food that can be served in the capital.

Speaking after the just concluded 2018 conference , the legislatures under Paul Ngei accused the government and the ministry of foreign affairs of sidelining them for not giving them allowances and meal cards during the whole period that they were in attendance terming it as mistreatment of the Kenyan delegates.

The MPs did not however speak about the conference and the benefits that Kenyans would reap from the conference.

He further insisted that the three governments had contributed money that was to cater for their transport , meals and as Kenyan delegates , they were yet to receive anything from the docket of foreign affairs which is headed by Monicah Juma.

Kenya had raised Sh650 million towards the High Level Sustainable Blue Economy Conference that was hosted by Nairobi from November 26 – 28.

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau said he was hopeful they will reach their Sh800 million target without burdening the taxpayers.

However the MPs intention to attend the conference has been seen as a scheme to reap from the taxpayers and further burdening them even with the recently passed vat law.

According to netizens , instead of focusing on the huge potential that lies in building maritime fishing capability that can enable kenyans to enjoy the benefits of the ocean and thus create employment , the mps are ganging up to destroy them completely.

Kenya is seeking to reduce illegal fishing in order to raise returns among fishing communities. This emerged at the blue economy conference that kicked at the KICC.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is asking countries participate in the inaugural sustainable blue economy conference to address the challenge of plastic pollution in waters bodies. Estimates now show that Kenya loses close to 10 billion shillings to illegal fishing.
