Can any of you relate to the pain of losing a father and mother in the span of one month? It’s difficult to fathom the pain of anyone who goes through such deep loss.
For Leano, the son of the late South African rapper Jabulani Tsambo popularly known as HHP, it’s double tragedy as death has now robbed him of his mother, Lerato Khanye slightly over a month after he lost his father.
Lerato Khanye, HHP’s ex-girlfriend and baby mama died at the Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg. There are disputing claims that Khanye died due to natural causes while other claim that she died following a long illness.
The Tsambo family spokesperson, Nkululeko Ncana confirmed that Lerato died in a Johannesburg hospital on Monday morning but did not divulge any further details. The family has also called for privacy and declined to comment on how Leano is handling the news of his mother’s death.
The late Lerato and the late HHP raised Leano together despite not being romantically involved for years after they broke up in 2009 and the rapper traditionally married publicist Lerato Sengadi.
Lerato Khanye was a notable personality in the South African television industry especially as a script writer at “Generations.” Family spokesperson Nkululeko Ncana said that the family is now committed to ensuring the 13-year-old Leano’s well-being.
HHP’s son is distraught at this time dealing with the loss of both parents. Before her death, Khanye revealed that Leano had been struggling to come to terms with his father’s death and had been struggling to sleep. There are now claims that the 13-year old boy is seeing a therapist following the death of his mother.
The rapper died on October 24 in what is believed to have been suicide after a lengthy battle with depression.
Ever since the news of Lerato’s death was confirmed, social media has been buzzing with messages of condolences for Leano who is now orphaned.
