Wimbo wa Historia sensation scored 308 marks in KCPE

Remember the charming and talented Leyla Mohamed who broke the internet with her fantastic rendition of  ‘Wimbo wa Historia’?

Well, the 13-year-old girl from St. Teresa’s Girls Primary School scored 308 marks in the recently released KCPE exam results. According to Leyla, she was aiming to score 350 marks and above but is still satisfied because she has got more than 300 marks which will see her join her dream school.

“I am thankful to God for the results I have achieved,” she said adding that she aspires to be a pilot.

The teenage song bird also said that her mother was happy with the grades she managed to score.

“My mother always told me that she is ready with any marks I will get,” Leyla said.

Leyla now wants to join her dream school, Ngara Secondary School and is hopeful that what she scored will make her dreams come true.

Leyla was first introduced to Kenyans by celebrated DJ Pinye who brought her to the limelight and nurtured her talent. Kenyans fell in love with Leyla after her rendition of the patriotic song Wimbo wa Historia, originally written by a prominent Kenyan, Enoch Ondego.

Kenyans rallied behind the 13-year old until she got a chance to perform on national stage before President Uhuru Kenyatta and millions in the 2018 Mashujaa Celebrations in Kakamega County.

Leyla got a chance to meet the President and even got an invitation to perform at the State House luncheon the same day. Leyla is currently taking voice lessons at the Permanent Presidential Music Commission where she has access to the audio visual studios at the facility to improve her musical talent.

She was also made the UNICEF Kenya #GoBlue Ambassador in support of children’s rights. With the financial difficulties her family is facing, Leyla hopes that her success will help her finish her education and help her family too.
