City Hall Way to be closed as Blue Economy Conference kick off

Nairobi’s City Hall Way is set to be closed for the next three days between 26th-28th November 2018 to facilitate the Blue Economy Conference.

According, to the police the road will remain close for security reasons and easy movement.

In its tweet, the Kenya Police Service mentioned that City Hall Way will remain closed to facilitate ease movement for all participants in the Blue Economy Conference from November 26th-289th, 2018.

“We wish to notify motorists & the general public that City Hall Way shall remain closed to facilitate ease of movement for participants in the Blue Economy Conference, being held at @KICC_kenya on 26th-28th November 2018. Kindly bear with us for the inconveniences. #BlueEconomyKE” reads a tweet Kenya Police Service.

The Sustainable Blue Economy Conference which is the first global conference on the sustainable blue economy will host over 4,000 participants from around the world.

In its inaugural sitting, blue economy conference will focus on creating economic growth, ensuring healthy waters and building safe communities.

The theme of the Blue Economy conference and the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development, will focus on new technologies and innovation.

The conference aims at discussing measures of harnessing the potential of our oceans, seas, lakes and rivers to improve the lives of all, particularly people in developing states, women, youth and Indigenous peoples

Besides, the attendees are expected to learn how to leverage the latest innovations, scientific advances and best practices to build prosperity while conserving our waters for future generations.

The country realised modernisation in the late 19th century through the interactions of people and exchange of goods across the oceans. It has achieved economic growth, greatly benefitting from the rules-based international order marked by free trade and freedom and safety of navigation in the seas.

The country fully supports the three basic concepts of the conference, namely prosperity, inclusivity and sustainability.
