Speaking at Kenya Assemblies of God Church in Buruburu, Mudavadi yesterday called on churches to reject contributions from leaders who were perceived to be corrupt. According to the ANC Party Leader, leaders are using loot to create the impression that they are development-minded.

Mr. Mudavadi outrightly attacked the Deputy President William Ruto who has been dishing out huge contributions to churches. He urged the Church leadership to decline money contributions from such leaders whose records of wealth acquisition are questionable.

“You can’t be telling us you are investing in heaven by giving out large sums of money that you can’t account for,” said Mudavadi.

“The church should be careful with these people masquerading as being wealthy and giving out money that they have stolen from public coffers,” he added.

Mr. Mudavadi further called on the agencies tasked with fighting corruption to start investigating such senior leaders without fear of the positions they hold in government. Mudavadi who was once Kenya’s Vice-President also raised concerns about the country’s GDP saying that 60% of it is being channelled towards loan repayment.

He further said that the country’s debt which is now higher than it’s ever been has become a burden to the common mwananchi who is now being taxed more to pay the debt. He therefore called on the government to control its borrowing.

The ANC Party leader called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intensify the fight against corruption to ensure that any money borrowed for development is not misappropriated by few corrupt individuals in government.

Do you  think Mudavadi will be able to fit in Raila’s shoes as an opposition leader?
