Governor Obado Cracks the Whip on Employees that Wanted His Downfall

Governor Okoth Obado is back to business and he means serious business. The embattled Migori County Chief is hell bent on getting his county back to productive ways after a long period of poor service delivery that was brought about by his detention at the Industrial area remand over the gruesome murder of University Student Sharon Otieno.

Days after falling out with members of his Party ODM due to his new found working relationship with Deputy President William Ruto, Obado is now in a new war with his county officials.

Obado has sacked county officials that openly went against him during the just concluded Migori Senatorial by-elections. The sacked county officials include Education Chief Officer Marwa Muniko and Trade minister Elizabeth Ochaye.

Ms Ochaye was apparently dismissed for being politically disloyal. It is said that she openly campaigned for the now Migori Senator Ochillo Oyacko of ODM.

She was replaced by Sheila Ghati who was previously serving in the public service docket.

It is however not clear why Mr Muniko was dismissed.

Obado’s director of communications, Nicholas Anyuor also also announced more changes as the governor seeks to build the legacy team.

Roseline Otieno is the new public service chief officer, replacing Mrs Mary Midida who was moved to the education department in the same capacity.

Chief officer for roads and public works, Samuel Ochieng’ will also act in the same capacity in the trade docket.

Christopher Odhiambo Rusana was retained as the county secretary and Mr Samson Maginga as the education executive. Ghati Maroa is the new water and energy minister, with Mr Edward Kabaka serving as the chief officer.

It will be remembered that Governor Okoth Obado was so against ODM’s candidate Ochillo Ayacko. The governor was rooting for Eddy Oketch. Political pundits even pointed out that were it not for Obado’s arrest, ODM would have lost in the by-elections.

Obado is known to command a huge following in Migori and his current tribulations seem to have only increased his popularity in the region with a number of residents sighting political witch-hunt in his current woes.

Obado is focused on leaving a legacy for the people of Migori and has pointed out that he will work with Deputy President William Ruto to ensure he brings development to his people of Migori.
