It’s no surprise that Michelle Obama’s new memoir, ‘Becoming’ is already a best seller. Who wouldn’t want to read a book from possibly the World’s Most Favorite First Lady. Michelle Obama’s nationwide tour for her new book has already helped the book achieve a publishing milestone.
According to Barnes & Noble, Mrs. Obama had “the biggest first-week sales of any book this year.”
Until November when Michelle released her book, that title belonged to Bob Woodward’s Trump administration dissection, “Fear,” which came out in September. However according to the bookseller, “Becoming” had even stronger sales in its first week.
Publisher Penguin Random House announced that “Becoming” sold more than 725,000 copies on its first day of release last week, the highest single-day sales of any book by the publisher this year.
“Becoming” had “the best first-week sales of an adult book since ‘Go Set a Watchman’ published in July, 2015,” said B&N. The former First Lady’s memoir remains top of the online lists kept by both the Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites since November 9, 2018.
It has been nearly two years since the Obamas left the White House, but there is still intense interest in the Former President and First Lady.
“Becoming” came out on November 13 and is almost certain to rank No. 1 on the New York Times best selling bookslist, but that list won’t officially come out until Wednesday. All the interest in the title plus her nationwide arena tour has stoked new speculation about her political prospects on whether she would run for political office.
“Let me be very clear, it will never happen,” Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett told Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” Monday morning.
Barrack Obama is also working on finishing his own memoir.
“Writing is hard,” Barack Obama said at his foundation’s annual summit on Monday. “I’m just sitting there, I type two words… delete,” he added.
Michelle Obama is currently promoting “Becoming” on a cross-country book tour that has filled arenas with crowds in the thousands.
