Manchester United now free to sign Lazio star

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and have now been handed a boost as the Serie A club president Claudio Lotito has refused to rule out the sale of the player.

Jose Mourinho was reported to be interested in the midfielder but a huge price tag of £100M put off Manchester United as they settled for Fred. United have struggled to find the third midfielder in their three-man midfield with the position being alternated between Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, and Fred.

Lazio president Lotito seems to have lowered his guard over the sale of Savic, “In today’s football, it’s difficult for a player to tie himself to just one club for the rest of his career, but at Lazio we are doing well. Our players show great affection to the club. Milinkovic-Savic? Unfortunately, Lazio don’t have the same economic potential as Barcelona and Real Madrid.”

Lotito added that they will let the Serbian leave for the right price, “When the conditions are on our side and an offer you can’t refuse arrives, then we will face the matter.”
