Alexandre Lacazette was subject to transfer rumors linking him with a move away from Arsenal in the summer transfer window after just one season but the talisman has denied the reports in a recent interview.
The French striker suffered a knee injury that kept him out for more than a month and later on suffered thigh muscle issues. The two injuries limited his playing time and he sat on the bench upon his return with Arsene Wenger choosing to start with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Lacazette cut a frustrating figure on the bench.
After finding the back of the net 17 times last season, in 39 appearances across all competitions last season, Lacazette insists that Arsenal had no intentions of selling him, “The club is happy because this summer they didn’t want to sell me; they told me ‘we are happy to have you in the team’.
“When they came I was so happy and the discussion with Arsenal and the club was so quick, and with me it was so quick. I’m happy because I know now the league, I know my players, my team-mates.”
