Most Cabinet secretaries have forgotten their duties and shifted their attention towards winning the public likes. Most of them are busy selling the faces other than doing their designated duties.
They are a few CS in Kenya who crave for public attention right?
I know the list is endless but , to hell with their public stunts.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again lashed at Cabinet secretaries for failing to do their work.
Speaking at Liwatoni in Mombasa after launching the Kenya Coast Guard Service, Uhuru warned CSs against publicity stunts.
“Kuwa waziri si kukaa kwa ofisi ama kuenda mikutano. Kazi yako ni kuuliza mbona hii kazi haitaendeki. Lakini sisi tunataka kujiona kwa magazeti, kwa TV sijui tukifanya nini, ,” he said. (Your work as a CS is not to stay in the office or attend meetings; it is to ask why work has not been done. But some only want to be seen on the newpaper and TV).
Uhuru told CS to focus on work and stop politicking.
He said he was able to commission the Kenya Coast Guard Service with limited resources and CSs should do the same.
The President also directed NLC and the department of Fisheries to recover any gazetted landing sites near water bodies that have been grabbed by April next year.
Uhuru said with the Coast Guard Service, authorities will be able to protect maritime resources from exploitation.
“We will arrest and prosecute anyone in our waters that does not comply with our legislation and ensure that never again will foreign vessels ever steal our fish,” he said.
The President said the Coast Guard service will help increase efficiency in protection of maritime resources.
