It is not yet a week after the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) told off senators on their county affairs, among them the wrangles they were having at the county assemblies.

Just recently, ODM leader Raila Odinga held talks with Kisumu County MCAs where he advised them to shun wrangles and concentrate on development agenda.

Do you remember the drama that was in September witnessed at the Nairobi County assembly during the speaker Beatrice Elachi ouster drama? Do you remember the famous MCA “krimimino?”

Well, as much the MCAs told the senators to keep off their wrangles, some have found themselves in trouble and will have to spend several nights in police cells! A Kisumu court on Friday remanded seven Homa Bay MCAs for 14 days on the charge of assaulting Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo.

The Seven MCAs includ Evans Marieba (Gwassi North), Philemon Onditi (Kagan), Dan Were (Kakelo Kokwanyo), Paul Wamunga (North Karachuonyo), Geoffrey Juma (Kabondo West), Paul Adika (Lambwe), and Peter Kaula (Wang’chieng’).

The seven were ordered detained at Kodiaga prison in Kisumu after they appeared before Kisumu resident magistrate Rose Ndombi.

The lawmakers, through their three advocates, had applied to be granted bond. The matter is pending in court.

They were taken to court after recording statements with the DCI in Kisumu.

Homa Bay has experienced chaos for some time in the wake of leadership wrangles pitting the county assembly members.

This culminated into the speaker’s impeachment. Speaker Ayoo sought the court’s redress and was reinstated.

Several other County Assemblies among them kisumu have witnessed wrangles in which some governors claim is due to lust for money.
