Waiguru celebrates EACC’s ‘clearance’

Is Waiguru winning the fight to redeem her image from corruption stains?

Former devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru seems to be breathing a sigh of relief after the EACC established that her main accuser Josephine Kabura was lying in her affidavit.

In her affidavit, Kabura stated that she witnessed cash being carried in bags from banks and that Waiguru was responsible for the loot that almost stalled the government institution.

Kirinyaga current Governor had written to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission seeking the outcome of investigations into an affidavit that was sworn by the key suspect in the National Youth Service scandal Josephine Kabura through her legal team.

The outcome has swung in her favour as she wanted the anti-corruption body to investigate and make public the contents of the affidavit, which her team describes as an action long overdue.

“Our client has written severally requesting for information on the outcome of the investigation but the commission inexplicably has not been forthcoming,” reads part of the letter, signed by ISSA and Company Advocates.

Waiguru had even copied the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, in what is clearly a fight to redeem her dented image amid stormy corruption debate. In her argument, Waiguru states that the delay has made the public accord her negative impression as well as turning her into a punching bag.

A recent research by IPSOS ranked Waiguru as second most corrupt leader, an issue he took with the company for propagating hate.

“As a result of inordinate delay, our client has continued to receive negative publicity stemming from the allegations in Ms Josephine Kabura’s affidavit culminating in a sponsored and doctored survey released by IPSOS Synovate.”

Will she finally clear her name from the corruption shame?
