Horror as another candidate dies after Completing KCSE

It is not just right for a parent to bury their kids. It is even worse when the said unfortunate event happens when the kid is sitting for their national exams. This painful memory will leave with the parent every time they are sitting for their exams.

This is what two parents are dealing with at the moment as another  KCSE candidate collapsed and died on Tuesday after finishing his exams in Homa Bay county.

The 18-year-old student collapsed while playing football soon after finishing his Kiswahili and Geography papers. He was rushed to a local dispensary for medical attention before being transferred to Matata Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Homa Bay County commissioner Irungu Macharia said the student had not complained of any illness since the start of the exams. “He was fine from day one of the exams. The information we have is that he collapsed and lost consciousness,” he said.

Another female candidate in Migori county lost her child soon after giving birth at St Camilus Hospital on Tuesday night.

Last week, another KCSE student in Nyamira county collapsed and died after completing his Maths paper. His father had said his son had a history of heart complications. But what a wrong time to die.

Police officer caught with KCSE candidate in lodging

Elsewhere, a police officer was arrested with a KCSE candidate in a lodging on Tuesday night.

The incident took place in Kilgoris, Narok County, a region that is known for the high number of teenage pregnancies than anything else.

Patrick Mwendo is said to have booked a room at a local bar where he planned to spend the night with the girl, who was sitting her exams at Sankale Secondary School.

Trans Mara Deputy County Commissioner Mohammed Noor Hassan, confirmed the incident saying the two were nabbed a few moments after they had checked in.

Noor said police have made arrangements to ensure the girl sits er remaining papers as investigations continue.
